How to download using mIRC
This tutorial assumes you already know how to connect to a server and a channel. Keep in mind that there are different types of fserves, but they are similar. This tutorial will work for most IRC programs, like mIRC, but the settings will probably have to be found in different areas. Also, many fserves have an "anti-camp policy" which means that you can not be inactive in the fserve for more than 30 seconds.
Check Your Settings
First we make sure your settings are right. Click on File, then Options
on the menu bar. Then make your settings look like these:

** Warning **
By doing this, you are allowing people to send you files without your permission.
Although it is rare that someone will deliberately send you a virus, please
be careful. The advantage to auto-accepting files though is to allow the
file to download to your computer while you are away from it, such as while
you're sleeping. When you are in a Long queue, that can be VERY useful. Use
common sense and do a virus scan on every file you download.
Find Out What You Can Download
To get a list of the ads in a channel, you type in "!list" but
be careful, some channels will ban you for that. Some will also ban you for
using @find too. Try to find the rules for the channel before doing anything.

Entering an Fserve
To get into an fserve, you have to type in a trigger. The majority of ads
use two different types of triggers, a regular one and a /ctcp trigger. Most
people only have one trigger per ad, but occasionally you will find someone
with multiple triggers. They will be seperated by an "&". Only
type in one or you will not get into the fserve. Type the trigger into the
channel window, not in a PM.
** Tip **
If you highlight text with your mouse, it copies it. Then you can just paste
that into the text box.

Fserve Window
After you press enter, the person's fserve should open up in a new chat
window. This is what a typical fserve looks like.

Exploring Through an Fserve
To get a listing of what is in that directory, you type in "dir".

Changing Folders
If you want to move into a different folder, you type "cd [folder name]" (replace
[folder name] with the folder's name). You can tell if it is a folder because
there is no extension (.mp3, .mpg, etc) or file size. Now that you are in
another directory, you have to type "dir" again to find out what
is in this directory.

Downloading a File
To download a file, you type in "get [filename.ext]" (replace
[filename.ext] with the file's name and extension). You do not include the
file size. Your file will either start downloading or it will be placed in
the queue if there are people ahead of you waiting to download. Each fserve
has a different limit on how many files you can queue at a time.

Viewing Fserve stats
To see who is receiving a file ahead of you, type in "sends".
To see all of the people in the queue, including yourself, type "queues".

Wait
You can now close the fserve window and wait for your files, this may be
a while depending on other queues and speed of users.
Cancelling a Download
If you decide you do not want to get those files anymore, go back into the fserve and type in "clr_queues" and it will delete ALL of your queues.
